It has been a while since I have shared my thoughts on my blog! I have been busy with moving to Sioux Falls, a new job as an RN and other miscellaneous activities. On the other hand, I have been enjoying my free time as well.
I have recently finished Decision Points by George W. Bush. I enjoyed reading the past Presidents recollections of his time in office. I was able to dive into the life of the President and see how chaotic that type of life could be at times. I think the most important lesson I can take from reading the book is that the President tries to do what is best for his county. This does not pertain to just Bush, but every President. I never really pondered what the President does on a day to day basis, but after reading the events of Bush's time in office, you just do not know what you will wake up too. Events from September 11th to Hurricane Katrina and the financial crisis, Bush had some hard decisions to make. Some people disliked Bush's tactics but in the end he puts it in perspective, "Perceptions are shaped by the clarity of hind site.... History can debate the decisions I have made, the policies I chose, and the tools I left behind. But there can be no debate about one fact: After the nightmare of September 11th, America went seven and a half years without another successful terrorist attack on our soil."
This book gives a great insight to the Presidency of George W. Bush and allowed me to have a greater respect for any President of the United States. A job that not many can do because the pressure of the job is a cross that not many could carry. I recommend that you take the time to read the book for yourself and learn about why the past President did what he did in those tough circumstances during his Presidency.
