An old English Assignment

As I was going through some of my old collection of items I ran across and old English assignment. It was a poem that I had written about the Greek mythology story of Pygmalion and Galatea. The story in short is about how Pygmalion falls in love with a statue named Galatea. So here is my poem:

O, cold and lifeless ivory,
But beauty prevails in so,
Is it the hell to pay?
For my unloving soul?
I'll love you in this form
Until I die alone.
Unless, Venus God of Love
Bless my creation whole.
Holding you're cold hand I feel,
A warm and soothing flow,
Of what every man must have to live,
The dark, the warm red blood; a Soul.
So, long I kissed your ivory lips, hoping,
for them to kiss me back, dress you in fine clothes as a child does a doll.
But forgive me now my love
For now I know what true love is and means,
It is you that gives me purpose to live.
Galatea I shall name you,
My most beloved, my truest being.
